Officials of the Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) led by the Director General, Mr. Biodun Onayele begin a 5-day records survey and acquisition of the records in the Apapa Local Government Area. The exercise begins with a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Hon. Adele Owolabi Elijah, on Monday.
In his brief, DG – LASRAB informed the Chairman that apart from the records survey and acquisition exercise, the visit is to sensitize the Local Government Staff on the importance of records management to effective public service delivery.
The Chairman, in his response, welcomed the Director General and his team to the Local Government Area and stated that the initiative of the Bureau is of great importance as records management plays a crucial role in the developmental process of people and their environment.
He thereafter requested the Head of Administration of the Council, Prince Adegbola Olujobi, to make available all that is required to make the exercise a successful one.
The LASRAB’s team to the Local Government with the Director General comprises: Mrs. Bolaji Olowofela, Bureau Secretary; Dr. Kolawole Oseni, Head, Records & Archives; Mr. Deji Hamzat, Head, Records Management, Mr. Ojo Olusola, Head, Archives Management, Mr. Oladiran Samuel, Principal Archivist, Miss Ajoke Lukoh, Senior Archivist; Mrs. Bosede Olamuyiwa, Senior Archivist; Mr. Julius Onileowo, Principal Executive Officer and Miss Aisha Animashaun, Senior Public Affairs Officer.

Furtherance to the records survey and acquisition exercise embarked upon by the Officials of the Bureau, the team led by the Director General, Mr. Biodun Onayele paid a courtesy call on HRM, Oba Fatai Aremu Aromire, Ojora of Lagos on the 3rd day of the exercise in his palace at Ijora.
The Director General informed the Oba that the purpose of the exercise was to document for preservation in LASRAB the tradition, culture and heritage of the people and communities in the Local Government. Sequel to this, the team conducted an oral interview on the historical evolution of Ijora and Kingdom.
The Oba appreciated the efforts of the team and promised to share archival materials in his custody with the Bureau.

As part of the ongoing exercise of records survey and acquisition exercise by the Officials of the Bureau, the team led by the Head of Records & Archives Department, Dr. Kolawole Oseni paid a courtesy call on HRM, Oba Taofeeq Adegboyega Akeju, the Alahun of Imoore & Apapa Kingdom on the 4th day of the exercise in his palace.
Sequel to the visit, an oral interview was conducted on the historical evolution of Imoore and Apapa kingdom for preservation and public consultation at the Bureau.
